Lately I was approached with a question that I could not answer without talking some one's ear off. It was "Who do you think are the best classic rock bands?" If you know me you would know that I can get very passionate about music, especially classic rock. What better way to answer this question that has been haunting me than with a Top 5 List?
5.) AC/DC:
If you ask a lot of people what true rock n roll sounds like (I've asked a few people myself) they would tell you it sounds like AC/DC. AC/DC can pull off intensity and sound like no other band. A band like Metallica can sing "Highway To Hell" note for note, but it would not be as intense and awesome as when AC/DC sings it. The originality and the hard core, head banging, rock n roll vibe AC/DC provides is to hard to copy and that is why they are so legendary.
4.)The Rolling Stones:
Not only have the Stones been the greatest rock band in the world for more than 30 years, but they have been a functioning rock ‘n’ roll band for more than 40, the longest run in history. They really challenged the Beatles in the 70s and took their title. Each of the members of the band (dead or alive) are (or were) extremely talented. Keith Richards is the greatest rhythm guitarist who ever lived and Mick Jagger's performance skills and voice are amazing.
3.)Beatles:
They reinvented music when rock was going down hill and are responsible for the British Invasion. They were brave, original, and unexpected. Just what America found eye opening. If it were not for them then the classic rock we hold so near and dear would not be as extrodinary or would not exist. They are in a way the founding fathers of Rock-n-Roll.
2.)Led Zeppelin:
Led Zeppelin is one of the most legendary bands of all time for many reasons. The main reason is because of their astounding talent. They had ideas no one ever heard of or had before. They put so much devotion into all of their work and every song is a good one. John Bonham's drums skills, Jimmy Page's and Paul John's guitar (base, keyboard, etc.) skills, and Robert Plant's flawless voice all came together to make legendary music.
1.)Queen:
Queen is one of the most unique bands in music history and one of the most talented. Freddie Mercury's voice was one that still deserves a lot of recognision, with a range that most singers can only dream of. He was one of the main song-writers and he was a talented one. He is responsible for writing one of Queen's best songs, Bohemian Raphsody, the music world was not expecting anything like it at the time which is why it's so legendary and one of the best songs in the world. On top of all that he was a FANTASTIC performer that really connected with the fans. Brian May is well known as one of the best guitarists ever and he has a great voice. Also, he holds credit to writing some of Queen's hit songs. Roger Taylor is a truly talented drummer and his voice is nothing to joke about. He successfully could (and did) front a band of his own and ,of course, holds credit to some of Queen's hits. John Deacon may have been the only memeber that didn't sing or have a solo career at one point, but he is well known for some of the most iconic base lines ever and many hit Queen songs. Every memeber was responsible for at least one or more hit song which truly presents all of their talent.
